We’ve been using deer hearts for years. I cut them up in quarter size pieces or a bit smaller and put garlic salt in the zip lock with them and freeze. Works pretty good!

Try breast. Cut it up in little chunks. Ive just about quit using livers and only use breast any more. Much cleaner and stays on better Yeah why i like saving deer liver, way tougher than crummy old chicken liver
Do not regret growing older, it's a privilege denied to many!

Bone in and skin on chicken breast is where it’s at. Small chunk meat wrapped in skin stays on the hook. I fillet my of bone and put in ziplock with garlic salt. It’s mainly a blue cat bait but about the best. If I was going to try hearts definitely would put in garlic salt due to lack of blood.IMO

Bait shop here used to sell a box of just hearts. Must be something to it.

Wife's uncle made deals with local processors. They save deer hearts for him to use as bait. From the pictures I've seen, they work really well.
Been here long enough to go from "bring 'da pain" to " bring 'da pain meds.

I usually fix it at home so most times a couple hours . I have fixed a big batch and put some in freezer.

Try breast. Cut it up in little chunks. Ive just about quit using livers and only use breast any more. Much cleaner and stays on better Occasionally I get a request to go catch eating sized catfish. Cut chicken breast is my preferred bait for the 5lb or less fish. Some mix a packet of strawberry jello in the bag, others use pool salt. I just use cut chunks with no additional seasoning.
