264 win mag has a good bit more case capacity, almost 30% more than the 6.5 06.
Powders like H4831 or R22 would be a good pick.
Are you looking for heavier, 140 gr+ high BC bullets or lighter, 120-130 gr bullets for more velocity?

I reckon I was just thinking overbore more than anything. I have some 120 barnes triple shok's on order and some 140 hornady interloks coming as well. I'm wanting to launch the 120's as fast as possible but the 140's don't have to be a scream machine.

I would try IMR 4350 with the 120 gr bullets.

I'd probably try IMR/H4350 in both bullet weights and H1000 in the 140s. Passed on a 6.5-06AI several years ago. Wish I'd a bought itt now.

R22 will probably get you top velocity with either weight bullet. Good powder except for lot to lot inconsistencies and very temperature sensitive is why I've been using less R22 in the last few years. Only using it in my 300 weatherby these days.
If you have a few pounds from different lots, I would try to mix it all together to avoid inconsistencies.

I have used 125 Partitions ahead of 4350 for many years. Mild recoil, flat shooting , and deadly.

My uncle religiously used a 264 win mag for years. He loaded 125 gr partitions. Can’t remember what powder he used. He was old school about everything and swore by partitions. If he was old school he was likely using 4350 like Fred. 4350 gets the job done well in a lot of guns. You can even use it in a 375 H&H mag with 300 gr bullets for top velocity.

My .264 win mag load is a 140 grain Berger VLD Hunter. Don't remember the powder but AU338 might. I think it may be R22.

Retumbo. Maybe a few grains above the listed "book" max but I've used the same in my 264 and no pressure signs. Great powder for the 264.

I don't have any Rotumbo but may pick some up I think Retumbo will be a little too slow for the 6.5 06. Try R22 or H4350. And if you find any Retumbo other than on Gunbroker for $100+/lb, let us know.
