I just ordered a dozen Duke dog proof traps, stakes, and ID tags. It might take a miracle for us to see a deer in daylight at the farm, but we can get after those coons! Can't wait.

A cheap bag of cat food and a bottle of used oil from a fish fryer and you will be in business

If you are nuisance trapping, why do you need an ID tag?

All traps must be tagged per the regulations. There is no distinction between fur taking and nuisance trapping in that regard.

"Cull" is just another four letter word...

Huntertruf,
How many years you been trapping your location? I catch 80 something the first year here, then 50 something year 2 and 31 last year. Been much slower here this year. hoping that I've finally gotten ahead of it a little bit. But I understand that if I take a year off it will probably go right back, so no off years from here out.

first year to trap these properties. trapped at feeder locations at a lease in greene co and caught 20 in 3 weeks. i’m 3 weeks into another property in bibb co setting traps on just sign along creeks, streams and ponds and 20 ish from there as well. 2 more small acreage by my house where i trapped by the troughs and feeders for the easy ones. ants are becoming an issue now so swapping over to peanuts and corn. not sure how this will affect catch rate which are shockingly similar week to week

A couple questions… Do y’all leave your traps out (not set) between times you’re actively trapping? The farm is 1.5 hours away so don’t get to trap often and have been pulling them after checking the following day.

Also, I have a couple where the latch doesn’t want to stay in the trigger notch when setting. Is a little filing to be expected?

Mine got tougher as I kept trapping - 1 possum today - numbers below in my 256 acre property

27 Coon first year - only 11 this year
6 coyote first year - only 4 this year
7 possum first year - 5 this year
3 fox first year - big diff this year - caught 9 fox second year
1 cat first and 1 cat 2 nd year - they kick my butt regularly- need to not be hard headed and double set

The coons have been eating the corn in my hog trap and tripping the trap door. So, I placed some dog proofs around it and have caught 6 coons in two days, using just 3 traps.
I made up a mixture of some expired tuna, sardines and cranberry sauce.

You need to try the Wild Man's Hammer Time raccoon bait. It's some good stuff

"Cull" is just another four letter word...

Will any of you keep trapping thru deer season or you think it disrupts the deer hunting too much?

I trap em through especially with corn out. I’ve got pics of coons trapped and bucks eating out of the feeder beside them
