I have posted much here simply because I have not been able to catch a decent size catfish since they went into spawn season. Saturday was another bust. Can't even get the dinks to bite. Wednesday, my boat partner and I hired JR Hall with Blacksheep Guide for a 8 hour trip. Not to catch fish, but to teach us how to catch fish. JR has been consistently putting 70lb'ers in the boat all summer. Saturday's trip started out with blinding fog all the way from Ditto to G Dam. Couldn't see either shore line so had to navigate using GPS. On the return trip, it was playing dodgeball with all the floaters. 8 gates were open.

I’m a jug runner on Wheeler and fish about 15 miles from guntersville dam. What bait are you using??

Jr is the best me and my son went with him this spring and my son reeled in this 97.8 lb blue cat. All jr did was just hold rod due the fish being so big. Had a blast will definitely go again and recommend anyone wanting to catch big cats get with him.

He is a great dude, never been fishing with him but he's been on several deer tracks with me.

You'd better reschedule that trip to Thursday. Wednesday is your day to post the hump day thread on here and the only reason we keep you around. rofl

Skipjack and bluegill. Launch from Ditto and fish from G Dam to the Triana boat ramp.

5 fish caught, 35, 22, 18, and two 10's. But the trip was not about catching fish, but learning how to catch fish. We did a lot of scouting and JR would explain why a certain place would or would not produce fish. He showed us how to read our electronics, how to properly anchor (or spotlock), to present bait to the fish. Covered planer boards, drift fishing, suspend fishing, etc. The best part, was he taught us how to lock through the dam. Now I can catch skipjack below G Dam, then lock up to fish Lake Guntersville. I did hook a monster that took me underneath a sunken tree. JR actually tried to use his anchor to try and lift the tree off the bottom. The 100lb leader eventually broke. I tell everybody I had the Lake Wheeler record because there is no proof I didn't! grin ps, If one of your kids likes to fish and has a birthday coming up, a trip with JR would be a perfect gift.

It has taken me some time to learn to read the sonar/down imaging when looking for areas to catfish. Still have a ways to go but better than I was. Some areas look great on the graph but no bites. My best place is an area that looks really unassuming from up top, but man the fish love it. Can usually put 2-3 in the boat every time.

I'm not talking to you, you left us hanging with no Hump Day post.
