Anyone around the Montgomery area could help with setting the triggers.

You should be able to find something on YouTube or in the owners manual.

I’m confused on why you have to adjust the screws by the triggers when the side plate has never been installed.

If you have the set screw all the way in the rear trigger will not function. That’s the screw between the front and rear. If the lock functions outside the gun but not in it you most likely are having som contact with the wood. To set the set screw you back it off three or so turns, cock the hammer then slowly turn it in until the hammer falls. ( the hammer may not fall I can’t remember it may just click but it’ll be obvious). At the instant it falls stop turning clockwise and back it out one complete turn

Just to let you know, I got the 2 triggers adjusted. Still can’t get the sear to catch. So the hammer isn’t working. It’s like it’s stuck on half cock without the sear catching.

I need to edit my first reply. You have to engage the set trigger(rear trigger) before turning the set screw after bringing the hammer back to full cock. In response to your question, with the lock out you should be able to cock it back and see if it goes into full cock. It’s a pretty deep notch. You should have had to go to full cock to set the trigger though so I’m a bit confused. Also with the side plate out there are two screws below the hammer, they should be snug but not overly tight. Other than that I’d still say it’s rubbing on the wood somewhere. It sounds like a kit gun and they sometimes need a little work from what I hear. I can recreate what your describing in mine if I loosen the lock bolt which puts my side plate at an angle. You may need to buy some in letting black, or you can use soot or even lipstick to see if you need to remove any wood. If I was closer I’d be more help but I’m not good at describing things online. Hope you get it.

I understand almost everything you are telling me. I can’t get the hammer to
move. I’ve taken out the side plate. I can move the hammer back until it touches the metal of the plate but it doesn’t catch. It doesn’t move enough for the sear to catch in half cock or full cock. I have 2 side plates and they both do the same thing. From reading online and looking at the serial number I don’t believe it is a kit. The hammer will not move forward to rest on the nipple.

Ok. Yeah that’s strange since you have two doing it. Only other thing I’d know would be a problem is with what they call the fly. I do know that the fly can stick if it’s too oily or greasy so you could try spraying something like brake cleaner or in some way degreasing it and try it again. I can’t give you any advice on taking the lock apart but the fly is tiny and easily lost. I’m not a fan of set triggers myself. Hope you figure it out though muzzleloading is fun in my opinion although sometimes it can be frustrating as you well know.

After all this time it was so simple. I thought it was in full cock. It wasn’t. Took the hammer off. Used adjustable wrench and put it in full cock. This was a guess on my part. It worked. Now to get rid of it.
