Are they serving the exact same food, just not in buffet format now? It has been months since I have eaten there, but the food was the same. You just told them what you wanted from the list on the table.

All the places mentioned that I've been to have all been pretty good. I travel to one of our plants in Macon, GA. from time to time and I like to go eat lunch at The Whistle Stop Cafe in Juliette, GA. Near another one of our plants, I like to eat at the Parade Truck Stop on Highway 43 in Creola, AL. (Axis, AL.) they always have great fried chicken. I'm not saying that either one of those is the best ever, but they have always been consistently good according to my taste buds. Plus The Parade Station can offer some good entertainment. I was in there one day, and these two black plant workers were going at it. Dog cussin' each other talking really bad about each other and their mothers and fathers, sisters, you name it. I thought surely there was fixin' to be a serious throw down. I was kind of in between them in the line so I was preparing to get out of the way. Then the one behind me decided that discretion was the greater part of valor and decided to leave. Well, then the guy in front turned to me and I thought he was about to say something like, "What are you looking at?" but instead he apologized. He must have mistook me for some kind of gentleman or something.  I never thought to ask what the rift was about.

Niki’s in Birmingham (off Finley) is good but so overpriced and over rated. I ate there a few weeks ago for lunch. I had the veal with gravy, fried green tomatoes, rice and broccoli casserole, stewed okra, roll and tea. Just your basic meat and three. With tip, my bill was $18.00 and change. Absolutely ridiculous. I’ll never go back and pay those exuberant prices.

DG (old Daniel George) in Mountain Brook Village outside of Bham is a white tablecloth supper place that does a great meat and 3 for lunch. Doubt it's any more price than Johnny's. Good food.
Used to be a lifeguard, until that blue kid got me fired.
