Needing some help setting some arrows up for my girlfriend. This is her first year bow hunting and I got her a bow a while back and she’s actually got pretty good. I’m about to set her up some arrows for hunting. I’m fairly new to the high foc deal. Her arrow needs to be 24.5 inches long CTC and I’m wanting to run 100 grain insert with a 100 grain magnus black hornet. I don’t have anything to check the poundage with but I’m guessing somewhere around 40 pounds. Will she need a 400 spine arrow or do I need to drop down to a 340? I built my arrows last year and understand them but the lower poundage/draw weight she has throws me off a little. Thanks for the help!

Don’t guess at the poundage. 340’s are going to be too stiff unless you add a lot of weight up front which wouldn’t be great coming out of a 40lb bow

If it's 40 lbs and obviously a short draw length 400 spines will be fine. 100 GR inserts and points should be good and your talking using fixed blades. So I'd say your headed in the right direction. Only thing I would add would be keep the shots close.

The shots are definitely gonna be under 25 yards and hopefully under 20. I don’t want to get the weight up too heavy since the bow is already so slow but I’m shooting for foc around 16-18%

Short as those arrows are it won't be hard and with the build you looking at doing I wouldn't be surprised if it came in closer to or above 20

Call south shore archery and talk to them, they'll hook you up. They build thousands of arrows and will run numbers if they need to.

Oh, for weight, the arrows can be longer than that also. It don't hurt anything
