We picked up a least last year on old reclaimed land. It’s impossible to till so we did the spray, throw and mow thing with decent results. We now have waste high grains and weeds growing in these fields for organic matter. What’s the 5 types of seeds you would plant? I’ve got a really good idea of what works best but curious if I’m missing anything. I’m thinking wheat, oats and rye grains and clover and a tuber of some type (daikon).

I’d go triticale, sodbuster or daikon radish and crimson clover. It’s bulletproof

Why crimson though. In my experience crimson isn’t utilized.

Crimson to keep building your shitty dirt up. Deer will use the triticale and radish.

Just an observation over the years but Crimson clover tends to grow a deep root system even though it's an annual. The Daikon radish will loosen tough soil for the next year's planting. I hear good things about FIXatioN Balansa clover on poor soil. haven't ever planted it but It seems to produce a ton of forage.

Most of my clover this year is fixation and frosty Berseem - one of the guys in here had some great cage photos of there’s last year

Think Mississippi state did study where frosty and fixation were deer favorite choice clovers in studies they ran

I also trying some regal graze ladino and patriot white clover this year and antler king trophy clover

Radishes are so cool. They can’t help but improve your soil. Deer love them too.

Try the WMS blends. They have most of the above including several clovers and Daikon Radish all in the same seed blend. GREAT product.

https://productsforwildlifemanagement.com/shop/#!/Seed-Blends/c/18575183 Try the WMS Deer Magnet or Ala. Blend. The company is not showing much available, but their dealers across Ala. have a lot. These blends have all you want in them. Planted them for eight years in Coosa County Al. and they are GREAT

I would plant a 3 grain mix, winter wheat, oats and rye, then a brassical mix, and put in some whitetail clover or fusion. Then come back in the spring and mow it, spray it and add 0-20-20 fertilizer.

Then you are basically in a maintain mode from there. All my fields are getting some sort of clover mix this year. I don't want to be doing the peas and beans every spring.

If you needed a lot of organic material, then in the spring plant sunn hemp.

I picked up a lease with some reclamation last year. Though it is rough on a tiller, once I got it tilled the fields turned out great. We use the WMS AL & MS blends 100# ac. & 300# triple 13 ac.
With some mowing and Clethodim spraying, I’ve got the start of some really nice clover fields.

Wms Bama blend did great for me 2 years ago - saw mere deer on my field when I used it. WMs touts it as there strongest draw or most attractive for deer in deer season - plays out when season over
The Miss blend is great for deer - but they tout it as having a more attractive turkey package

The magnet - they tout as deer eat on it all year long - no summer feed needed - each has different end game - I bought some of all 3 this year - heard great things about the magnet as well from several people

Hunt the wind - leave it better than you found it - love your neighbor as you love your self
