Some of y’all will remember he broke his foot on June 16 at work. Checkup July 19 — his birthday of all days — showed it wasn’t healing properly. He goes in at 830 in the morning to get a pin put in. Supposed to be really straightforward and get him out of the boot within few days. We really need this to go well. He’s due back at school soon.

He’s a tad mad at me. He’s in the Marching Southerners band at JSU. I called the band director, told him what was going on. My son was planning on “powering through” and not saying anything. I like that attitude. Reminds me of me. But band camp and marching within 3-4 days of surgery did not seem in his best interest to me. Band director is going to work with us.

Dr Smith here in Marshall Co is doing it. I think pretty highly of his skills. Hope I still do after this. My son thought he’d broken his ankle when this happened. It’s actually the bone that runs alongside the outside of the foot. It would be his driving foot as well. He hasn’t driven since this happened. This is apparently a more common injury than it would seem. Dr Sparks at the E/R said he stepped down off a horse and did very same thing.
