I shoot with one eye closed.

I had the same thing as you about ten years ago and I was a one eyed shooter too. I switched to shooting with both eyes open and it helped me overcome it.

I made a paper tuner in the garage and shoot bareshafts from 8yds back in the garage. I don't get to go out and shoot at actual targets until I shoot 10 bullet holes in a row. Just helps my confidence that my fundamentals and technique are where they need to be. More of a confidence thing.

Just saw this on tv - May be bunch of dodo - but it was about what you say u struggle with. They said - Thru fire by trueFire will take away your target panic- was saying this release - it works by pulling your finger thru and once it touches trigger - arrow is gone. Kind of like what i was telling you about finding a quick or very light trigger

U can research it - they touted it as taking away target panic

Good luck

man - i hope you overcome this ... one thing that surprised me my 1st year was the difference between shooting my bow in my yard/at the range vs in the woods ... i’m over 50 yo & my damn eyes have started to decline - but i learned to keep both my eyes open, esp to target the deer ... if i close one eye, i cant see the deer 😳🤦🏻‍♂️😐 still need to replace the peep on my newered Bear in fact ... David Blanton IIRC had some good videos/tips on TP

I’m starting to feel more confident, but I’ve still got work to do. I shortened my draw to 28”. Here is a pic of my last 5 shot group from 30 yards. As you can see, I’m still punching the trigger on occasion…

I started pulling more in the shoulder and it stopped the trigger punch

Back in the dark ages (before Matthews first solo cam) we had a range at our office. My boss, and best friend, had purchased the scope mount for a bow from Paul Bracknell and significantly refined it. I was tasked with selling the scope mount to archery shops across the Southeast and training the bow techs to mount and tune it. I shot the scope mount competitively to promote it. I mounted a 6X pistol scope and started to develop a little target panic. The magnification magnified the tiniest of motion (float). I began to practice by shooting at distance and train myself to ignore the tiny movement. Arrows were expensive and if you “popped” the trigger at that distance you were likely to skip it off the pavement. It didn’t take long (or too many road rash arrows) to settle down and overcome the target panic. Lots of sound advise in this thread, but the bottom line is you have to overcome it in your mind. It is completely mental (unless you have an 8lb trigger) and you CAN overcome it. Best of luck to you sir!
