Spray is definitely better. Stuff don't slide around.

Spray in. Plastic will trap dirt under them as well as allow water to get under them too. That’s a recipe for rust.

Line-X This ^^^^. I had one put in my old chevy probably 20 years ago, it has faded but it has endured a lot of hauling

Line-X with a rubber mat. Mine was an old piece of conveyor. The drop-in plastic liners are slippery and will rub the paint off the bed. This would be the best of both worlds. Sacrificial top layer with rugged underlayer.
