Wow! I might have to get some of that. How much did you put on there?

Fur, the gin at rainbow crossing sells it by the scoop, i believe a big loader scoop. Its $20/scoop. I guess 6-8 scoops last year and another 3-4 scoops this year. I guess ill keep putting a load on it every year. That little garden spot is about 25ft wide and 60 ft long. I spread it out and disked it in. The biggest tomatoes i ever saw were growing in about a foot of pure gin trash. It absolutely turned that ground black. Im a believer.

I have it in my garden. Hopefully next year if prices go down I’m going to build a raised bed and gun trash is all I will used. I got the bed of my truck full for 10bucks. But it still smells like it

Looks nice!.........It looks like it is putting off a lot of foliage growth. If it doesnt start setting a bunch of tomatoes then back off on any nitrogen you may be adding and change to a fertilizer is more P&K based like a bloom booster......Its possible with plants such as this if you hit them with a lot of N they will just keep putting out massive amounts of plant and foliage growth but not set many "fruits". Just doing a quick search it looks like cotton gin trash is a much higher % nitrogen than P&K.......Potassium is a really important nutrient for vegetable growth.

Cnc, theyre covered up with tomatoes. You just cant see them. We have a beehive about 50yds from them. I think every bloom in our garden has made fruit so far this year. I went down there sunday morning and our squash plants were literally buzzing. Plenty of tomatoes, alot of them big around as a softball. Not many ripe ones yet.

CNC loves to hear himself talk. You can see the copious amounts of tomatoes that are on the plants in that photo if you look.

Probably some of the most impressive tomato plants I've seen posted here, great job. I've always heard good things about gin trash in a garden.

This is the soil sample i took at the end of summer last year. When the garden was about played out anyhow. I had done another soil sample before planting. Very poor sandy ground. Very little organic matter. I added 200lb pelletized lime and two loads of gin trash and this soil sample was the result. I didnt take soil samples this year. I fertilized just as i would have on a normal year except i laid the tomatoes and pole beans by with calcium nitrate. All the rain weve had surely played a big role in it as well.

Crazy how you don’t have problems with them being so thick and the air not getting through them. Aphids would eat mine alive around here if I couldn’t get all they way around them

I was wondering where you got it. I figured that might be the place. Reckon they've still got any from last year? I've added 4 - 16' spreader truck loads of composted leaves to my garden over the past 2 years. It's not much larger than the spot you're talking about. My soil is already black, but the fertility isn't good. I thought the rotted leaves would do it, but they didn't.
