I have this 44mm VX5HD on my main hunting rifle. I have much more expensive optics on hand but that's what I'm using to deer hunt... so take that for what it's worth.

Well y’all had me talked into a leupold. I was going to pick one up and a z5 with my reticle of choice became available. I know I like that scope so I went ahead and picked it up. I’ll definitely be looking into leupold very soon

Wow, I would have to see it to believe it. Leup has come that far, I have a VXii on 6mm, it can’t hold a candle to the Zeiss diavari.

As long as you stay with a VX-5HD or a VX-6HD in Leupold I'd take one of those over a Swaro all day long. I've owned both and will never spend my money on a NEW Swaro again.

Those two scopes are not in the same category. A Leupy VX II was a mid grade scope in their line up years ago.

I've never owned a Swarovski, always had zeiss and had a leica er5.
I bought 2 leupold vx5hd 3-15×44mm with cds turrets plex reticle.
Was real bright and clear at low light, with the exception of the cross hairs.
They kind faded away. You could see target good just not the cross hairs.
I sold both and went back to zeiss scopes. I do have the cheap leupold vx-r on daughter's ar-15.
It is exceptionally bright and clear at low light. Reticle is a little thicker and has red dot you can turn on.
Everybody's got different opinions, not making 1 better than the other.
But i hunt a lot of big hay feilds and bean feilds on our land,so my low light tends to stretch out little longer than most.

I'll tell you what someone told me since I've only looked through one at the store. The store manager told me he got rid of all of his Nightforce scopes and replaced them with MK 5 Leupold scopes.

IMO, from looking through one in the store, is they are awesome. The FFP reticle is still useful on the lowest magnification, which is one of my big gripes about Nightforce. Glass was incredibly sharp all the way to the edge.

My next long range gun build will wear one.

. Yep, if one is hunting a 50-150 yard grass field or hunting in timber, and another is hunting a 500 yard bean field, they will have different takes on how good a scope they need. I went with the diavari because of my eyesight, the length of some of the fields I hunted, and the twilight at said length of the field.

I would still have to see a new Leup. hd at twilight at 500 yards vs. this old scope I have. Even after almost 20 years, it still holds a zero, rarely have I had to adjust it in all this time, and still shines at (for me) long range and into the time of evening it really counts.

Swarovski is a little better scope but not for the money. I have high end Leopold on every gun I have and don't need anything better. They are a beast and MUCH less than a Swarovski.

Guys. Just as a little help. Most stores are selling the 4x20x52 vx5HD for $1699.00. If you are going to buy one, check gunbroker. I have seen several sub $1200.00 prices. That is a $500 savings which is sort of huge!!

Just checked. I found two for less that $1350. I’m very tempted.

Only complaint about my Mk5 ffp is the center dot is so big it covers up too much target at 1k
