I'm heading to Kansas on Friday. Weather is looking just right. Looking for Moody24 to chime in soon. He and his dad are Kansas turkey killing machines.

Just got back from south Texas, what blast hearing 8-10 gobbling in the same tree. 1st morning we had 11 birds fly off the roost to our decoys, looked like ducks coming in!

That sounds pretty good.

10 in one tree in South Texas might be a record.

I bet a lot of guys here would love to get in on some of that

For instance, I hunt in Zavala County.

Bout 13 miles out of Uvalde.

Where were you guys hunting? I just talked to the ranch manager on our
spot and he said they were henned up last week.

We killed birds in TX but there wasn’t near as many gobblers are usual. Didn’t see many Jakes either. It was a little different than years past.

We were in Live Oak county, George West TX. We had property along the Nueces river and creeks.

Ours gobbled hard on the roost then shut up when they hit the ground. They headed straight to the pastures and got under a mesquite tree and strutted all day. If you had a water tank, they were near it. It was 95-102 degrees while we were there, high humidity, outfitter said they don’t gobble during the day when it’s humid.
We killed 6 of our 8 birds and had one missed shot. This was a semi guided hunt

I went to west central Texas last week and didn’t kill a turkey. I’ve been 7 of the last 8 years and that was a first. Most times I limit out with ease. Hardly any turkeys there. Funny thing is, they were there 2 weeks before. It hadn’t rained and you could still see tracks everywhere, but they were gone. Weird.
The state had flown a chopper a couple weeks before to kill hogs in the area. Found several dead hogs and killed 3 coyotes. Coyotes were thick in there I guess due to eating all the dead hogs. Maybe that was the reason??

I went opening weekend. Lots of birds and they gobbled good. We were done quick.

Dad and i killed our birds the first day we were here Sunday. We are still trying to get my brother one. It’s been tough.
