Anyone ever deal with AAC after an end cap strike?

Suppressor has the 51T mount and it just wouldn’t lock on the last tooth (same way with all 3 rifles I have with the 51T muzzle brakes. Been like that since I bought it 8 years ago). Let a family member shoot the SBR with the can on it and ended up getting an end cap strike. Missed all the baffles though. Looked through the bore and started wiggling the can and i could see where it would barely move into the bullet path if I pushed it right. Now I’m stuck with a 1/8 raised spot on the end cap. Not concerned about the integrity of it as much as I’m concerned about it possible by shifting into the bullet path again.

Already wrote them to see what they can do, just not sure if they’re gonna tell me I’m SOL. Especially with Remington going under recently.

I thought aac’s had a lifetime warranty. May be wrong tho?

The harder I practice, the luckier I get.

That’s what I thought but I get skeptical of that kind of stuff since usually companies find a way to screw you over in the fine print. Seen some good customer service on forums from AAC, but posts were 3+ years old. Haven’t seen anyone raving about them since.

AAC no longer exists. There is no one to honor your warranty. Your only option is to pay someone to fix the endcap.

I have an AAC can and although I haven't needed warranty work, I have been reading up on others who have need it recently (in the past year). The above statement is the best I can figure from reading about others issues.

Looks like from here on we are on our own with our AAC cans. If something happens and the serial numbered portion gets damaged, we're really SOL.

Do a Google search for AAC warranty service and site search ar15.com. they have a really good suppressor forum and this has been discussed on there.

That’s what I’m afraid of. I’m hoping whoever bought them out will honor warranty work. If they don’t, I imagine they’ll further damage the name but they may or may not care about that. I checked a bit in ar15.com but couldn’t find anything recent. It’s not the end of the world for what little damage is on the end cap, just hate to keep shooting and nail a baffle on the next shot. I had just bought an AAC element shortly before Remington announced the bankruptcy. Hopefully that holds up better than this sdn-6

AAC was owned by the same private equity group that owned Remington. I can't remember who, but somebody bought the rights to AAC in their latest bankruptcy. Seems like it may have been PSA. I guess they will choose whether or not to stand behind previously produced cans

JJE Capital Holdings bought AAC, as well as H&R, DPMS, and a couple of other brands. JJE also owns Palmetto State Armory. Probably a good thing that PSA is getting into the suppressor business.

It is PSA....they only bought intellectual rights...no equipment or inventory

I reached out to JJE holdings and they didn’t really have any info. All they said was they hold the rights, and they get the question a lot, but they still didn’t know what they were gonna do.

I found a machine shop that does repairs as well as swapping mounts on the suppressor. I’m waiting on a quote. It’s probably going to kill the possibility of any future warranty work if new AAC does honor old warranties but I’m not sure I have much of a choice since there is no real timeline for AAC to even be a thing again. Sucks because I have like 5 of those mounts and they are about 125$ a piece. Maybe they can hook it up with a tbac mount so I don’t have buy new ones.

I had this happen with a Silencerco 7.62 right after finally receiving it. I called them and was told me to send it to them. I sent it in and 5 days later I had it back. They had cut the damaged end cap off and welded another one to it. You can see that its different but its as good as new and was an excellent example of customer service. Maybe call another manufacturer and see if you can pay them to fix it..

I found a guy that’ll do it pretty cheap, turn around didn’t sound bad for just repairing the cap (I think it was under 100$) but I’m going to go ahead and get him to convert the mount as well. Price is a couple hundred bucks for the conversion but the wait is almost 9 months...

You can talk to Liberty Suppressors out of Trenton GA. They will be able to get it fixed up. Not sure what they would charge.
