Went out to hang with some buds last evening after a long day of work getting the gardens ready for planting. (More on that in another thread.) It was a long day. We got up very early to our close friend's cabin burning completely to the ground. Just a horrible morning up at Camp Little Ridge...

Life must go on...

What started as a small get together for a few buds turned into a little of an outdoor party with some attorney and doctor friends stopping by the cigar smoke with their wives and at least one daughter.

Fortunately Mrs. Irish had dinner already going when I got home and all I had to do was pan sear the salmon...

I’m not a salmon kinda guy but that looks great Irish. Looks like quite the crew gathered round the fire. Good times by all no doubt.

We’re not dead. We just smell that way. Dayum. - AC870

Yessir! I’m always gonna shoot what makes me happy and I want everyone else to do the same! If you shoot one be proud of it and don’t worry what anyone else thinks. - SJ22

That's my buddy's fire pit area. He's the guy standing up in the 3rd pic. Former Major in the USAF. A flight nurse. Great dude. I'm lucky to have people like him as friends.

Y’all really do have a great diverse group, looks like all are having a good time. I think you and your wife would miss your cabin if you build the beach house. I realize y’all would split your time, but.......

I like Jiffy cornbread.

Yeah. They were fine. They were in Mobile. Weren't full timers up here yet. It was really a bad deal. I've been thinking about them for the last two days. You wouldn't believe the priceless stuff they lost.

We would. No doubt. Right now with building prices they way they are and us trying to retire in just 2 years, the beach house might be out of our range right now.

We have started to feel the same way about a camper. For a while Mrs. Iris was enthralled (Watching too many Youtube videos of RV people.) Fortunately we have had several conversations since then, and most of them have gone like this: "One day we will be sitting in a campground, trying to chill out by the fire, and there will be kids running around everywhere, people making all kinds of noise, stereos blaring, etc... and we will look at each other and say, 'You know we could be sitting around our own firepit, with nothing but the sounds of the crackling fire and the forest...' "

So needless to say the camper talk has quieted down considerably. However, if we decide to go ahead and build the little beach cottage, we will definitely be getting a camper to sit down there.
