Like these.
I have TFal non stick for frying and cast iron for biscuits and cornbread.
Can these take the place of my TFal if I keep them seasoned? Who else uses them?
Thanks

I love mine. I no longer use Teflon. It's either carbon steel or cast iron and honestly the carbon steel gets a lot more work. Seasoning and care are really simple too. About like cast iron

I like mine more than most of my cast iron. I have two and prefer the French one with no rivets on the cooking surface.

I'm surprised I don't already have one. Been thinking about it for some time. I have a decent collection of cast Iron that I use all the time, but I need to ditch all the Teflon for the few times I use them and replace them with Carbon Steel.

I’ve never really liked the idea of Teflon coated cook wear, PLUS you can’t use metal utensils with them.
I think I’m gonna get a 8” and a 12” to start.

That show is without a doubt me and Mrs. Irish's favorite cooking show. Being 60, I even think the two blond chick hosts look pretty cuddly. grin I can tell by a woman's fat content if she knows how to cook.

By the way that's in interesting seasoning process, I'm going to use it when I get mine.

Matfer recommends peels of two potatoes, salt and fat to season. Works like a charm.

Yeah. That's what the chick in the video said.

I ended up ordering 3 different sizes of these.

Link to Carbon Steel Pans

By the way this is a good place to buy cooking equipment.

I will review these after they get here, I get them seasoned and cook some stuff in them a few times. Fingers crossed. I got an 11', and 9 1/2" and an 8" pan. Total with shipping was $68.

Reviews on carbon steel and cast iron pans on various consumer sites like Amazon are somewhat questionable, because most people are dumbasses and don't know how to properly season stuff and don't know how to cook either.

They came in the other day. So far so good. Maybe I'll get a chance to season them and cook in them this weekend.

It's unusual to get something Made in Spain... So my fingers are crossed.

The handles appear to be painted, so don't know about that.

#truth - i find people a) don't know how to control heat while cooking & b) get too damn "cute" with seasoning oils/techniques (related to cast iron) ... enameled cast iron can be tricky to use - i'll admit that - but they're not impossible, esp to prevent sticking ... i got a *killer* deal on a Le Creuset enameled skillet last year b/c of "pilot error" - there was a burn circle right in the middle of the cooking surface, a tell-tale sign that whoever had it used WAY too much heat
