I'd still rather use 00 buck for penetration through arms or other objects that might be covering vitals that bird shot might not make it through. Besides, I like the option of shooting through walls and studs to kill the perp; I am also not sure bird shot could do this...

#6 shot will go thru a sheetrock wall like grease thru a bird dog.....

shooting thru walls and studs is the reason a lot of us DON'T use buckshot. Buckshot will go thru several walls before it stops.

go try some #6 at 50 feet and see what ya get.......

Understood. I don't have kids in the house, just the wife and myself. I'll stick with the 00 buck.

I bought my Mom a Stoeger coach gun and #6 shells. She not afraid of guns like I am.

Some of the worst wounds I have ever seen come in to the ER were made by bird shot at inside house ranges. Fugly is the word that comes to mind! That is why I keep a shotgun by my bed with high powered 6's in it. I don't know how big your house is but at any distance you could possibly shoot someone inside mine I have no worries about how well it would work.

At real close range they hit like a big slug. At about 10 yards they spread out to about the size of a baseball and just shred anything and everything inside that size hole.

I bring my little turkey gun in the house and stick it under the bed at night. 20 ga. 870 compact with heavyweight 7's. I wouldn't wanna get anywhere within 50 yards of that thing. If anybody can tote an ounce and a half of those things at close quarters, they can just have the house.

If I ever decide to ever buy a gun for this purpose, it would probably be a Glock 40 cal, with a high capacity mag!
