I’m set up on Black Warrior this morning. I’m on a road bed leading to a food plot. This buck has 7 scrapes on this road and 3 are fresh. I’m actually on a trail that crosses the road bed, so I guess it’s an intersection. Can’t hunt long, because National Forest Law Enforcement is on my tail. I guess I have over stayed my welcome. Camping to long at an undeveloped hunters camp. “Homesteading”. Yeah I’m not happy about it! It will take most of the afternoon to load my stuff up and go home. Had plans for me and my daughter to hunt/camp this weekend, but I guess that got shot to hell. You can run around burn, loot and throw rocks at cops, but I can’t camp over 14 days. I have been there for two months and he just caught me sitting around camp yesterday afternoon. He said I was hard to catch. Please don’t confuse him with state biologist over Black Warrior WMA, “Kevin Pugh” is a stand up guy and does a great job. Just wanted to make sure there was no confusion. This guy running me off is Federal Law Enforcer, he is the only one assigned to Bankhead National Forest. The game warden over the WMA wants us to stay and hunt, but Mr. Joe Brown does not. And yes Kevin has stuck his neck out for us, but hasn’t got anywhere with Mr. Brown. I wonder how much pull Mr. Matt Brock has? Help me out Matt..........

Can’t move camp just down the road? I know it’s be a hassle, but can’t see why you can’t just move to another spot and reset the clock.

I know the rule is annoying, but I guess it does keep all the hippies from setting up a commune in the middle of Bankhead under the guise of camping.

He said I had to leave for 8 days. I think he is making it up as he goes. I need to see the rules in writing.

I understand why the rule is there but if your obviously hunting thats a bunch of BS...

Hate to hear that JD, I’m at my cutover stand but it’s as dead as I’ve ever seen it. The activity was starting to pick up and was looking promising but this is my third sit in two days and nothing. Can’t help but wonder if the feral dogs that showed up last night have something to do with it.

I did some digging and I guess they publish the camping rule on the WMA permit. Never noticed it before myself

“ it shall be unlawful: To camp in the management area except in designated sites. Campers using generators must camp in site designated for generator use. On areas located on U.S. Forest Service lands, this camping restriction applies from October 1-January 31. Individuals or groups may camp in the area for a period not to exceed nine (9) days in any 30-day period. Campfires must be extinguished before departing. No warming fires shall be permitted away from camping area.”

Yeah that’s the State WMA. They don't enforce unless it needs to be. Which is common sense. This is federal rules he is worried about. I have talked to the state game wardens at different WMA and they say come on and stay all you want. It’s the National part that’s getting me.

They going to tow it away if I don’t move it. Scare tactics I guess? He said my fire pit was a big no no! I dug a hole and put big rocks around it to keep from burning the place down and he said just build it on the ground. I was just being safe. Who knows...... Well I didn’t see any deer this morning, so time to get down and get busy.

The Federal Game Warden can't make up laws and wouldn't risk his retirement and livelihood to harass you J.D and make you move from the Allred Primitive hunting camp if that's where you've been camping.

JD, There are other WMA's you can go to. I think it is either Barbour or Blue Springs that allows camping through the season.

Sorry to hear JD. My favorite thing in the world must be living with and dealing with jackasses that can’t find real problems to work on. I say that due to the ones I’ve dealt with almost daily for the past three years. Good luck and keep up the good times and great hunting. Those folks will reap what they sow. They should be chasing real criminals.

Don't blame me for your bad decision-

Rules are rules. It's public land not private land. If I were you I would buy my own hunting land where you get to make the rules!
