Where do all you folks buy your seed to plant plots, online or local?

I've looked at

Antler King
Big Tine
Eagle Seed
Frigid Forage
Mossy Oak
Whitetail Institute

Am I missing any of the online dealers, who has the best value of the online dealers in your opinion? Buy online at all?

WMS is good. Little pricey if I remember correctly but good. We tried it when they first came out so it’s been awhile

Wms looks about the same - u can pull up wms out of Eutaw and they should hav prices to compare

Most of these guys on here plant mid sept to mid October but they usually wait for rain and plant just before - few of guys on here even wait till November - triple 17 and triple 19 seem popular on here for fertilizer - some guys will plant right after a rain

Good luck

I buy local. Farmer's Cotton Warehouse in Louisville, AL and Farmer's Co-op in Hartselle, AL. I have a target date to plant and usually order my seed a month in advance and schedule a pickup date. Never had a problem not getting the seed or fertilizer I wanted.

Unless you have more money than you can spend go to a local coop or feed store. Seed with a big buck on the bag will cost substantially more.

Clemmons and Hamner Seed in Lauderdale County is very competitive on wildlife plot seed. I don't know if they will ship. http://clemmonshamnerseed.com/

Not crazy about the quality of blends we’ve used in the past down here. Oats grow well here and deer love them, the blends don’t have enough in them in my opinion. I’m going back to buying oats and wheat on my place.

We buy local. We did WMS Alabama Blend last year and it did ok. This year we did WAX 6-way and WAX 3-way and it did amazing, was a good bit cheaper than WMS also. I'll be using them again next year

Yep. And you can tailor the seed mixture to your own liking . I usually put a little more clover in than what you can buy pre mix.

Im trying to move away from blending my brassicas with my grains. Thats why I love their brassica blend. I plant it in its own pure stand. I like to supplement magnet with Buck forage oats.

I manage a club with 22 green fields. Have done so for 11 years. I have found if you have multiple fields it is best to plant a couple of different blends [ one per field ] . I plant WMS Deer Magnet in half of the fields and a blend from Buck Busters [ Deer Magnet ]. One thing to make sure of, if you are going to plant these high end seeds, please make sure your PH is correct. If not, a blend with a Brassica base will not do good. It will come up, but not have the correct taste. Liming is always the first step. The two seeds are the best, only a little costly, but well worth the extra dollars. Both have a blend of over six different seeds. Please check out both of these companies.

I plant my deer fields in fall - there things U can plant in spring - summer etc but not typically the fall seed mixes wee been talking about

Think some guys in here hav talked about clover in Jan-February/march and I planted crimson in Jan-feb for turkeys one year and it came up but I don’t think that normal - but I far from expert

Typically people plant in fall to hunt over thru deer season
