I’ve got a North AL swamp that we duck hunt. Tons of duck weed every year. A really productive area.

BUT, the beavers have killed so many trees that several different types of aquatic weeds have choked off much of the open water. Anybody have a biologist suggestion for killing off the thick choking weeds without harming the duckweed that keeps the birds coming back?

Can you id the weeds? I can check to see if there is something that will kill the weeds without harming the duckweed. But even if, not, you probably won’t kill all the duckweed

Also, too cold to use herbicides now. Would have to treat in Spring or summer

Imox is labeled for aquatic use. Download a copy of the label to see if it will work.

"Cull" is just another four letter word...

There isn’t a huge selection of aquatic herbicides. Killing other things but not duckweed may be a tall order. You can likely get around it busy using a herbicide that you can use to treat the surface or emerged vegetation and selectively avoid the duckweed. The aquatic herbicides are a little out of my area of expertise, but you can try and contact a SePRO or Alligare rep.

If you do the things you need to do when you need to do them then someday you can do the things you want to do when you want to do them.

Thanks for the suggestions. I have some pics of the weeds on my phone but don't know how to post here.
