Howdy folks,

My lady friend has decided she wants to get into tanning and using some fur since she is already an accomplished seamstress.

Is there a decent starter kit that anyone would recommend? If not a starter kit, a selection of tools and items I should be picking up? I’d like to get it for her as a Christmas present.

I also see a ton of successful trappers here - if anyone isn’t using the furs and would be willing to part with an animal or two I would be happy to travel to you to get something for her to practice on. Really doesn’t matter what kind of critter as I’m sure she would enjoy the product. Hopefully I’ll be able to get a deer this year and she can play with that too.

I use tanning supplies from McKenzie taxidermy supply. You will need to flesh the hides, so a good fleshing knife and a fleshing beam will be needed as well.
