So I've come into a MEC 600 Jr in 12 ga with an '82' marked on the base. Seems to be missing a few parts, notably the drop funnel and the primer spring and pad.

A caveat: I have _never_ done reloading of any kind. Don't have any components, nuthin'. Finding low recoil or extra light loads seems to be problematic, especially in #9, so I'd like to load some extra light loads in #8 or #9 to shoot skeet in an O/U. I've kept some hulls from those walmart $25/100 Federals and Winchester White Box loads.

I need to find the parts to complete this press and then gather a few components to build a few light skeet loads to start learning the process. But with all the shortages everywhere, where would you direct me to start locating stuff? I'm in Huntsville, but willing to drive a bit...

Thanks in advance!

GDawg I'd call or email mec and see if they will help out. Yes I'm a Moran when it comes to shotshells think I've done 10 or so on a buds machine. I promise you somebody'll help you out.

Light loads aren’t a problem just get the right wads. If shooting skeet find a load that gives you 1200 ft/sec.

DP I'll guess Unique/Universal would get 1200 on those #9's?

I have two 600 jrs from the same era. They still work great, but I have replaced a few parts. MEC still has all the parts you need. I would download an owner's manual first and go from there... Lots of info on adjusting the machine available in the manual and I have found MEC helpful with support. There is load data on their site too.

Yup, MEC is your one stop shop for getting your machine functioning like it should. Got three of them. Been loading since 1980. As noted, be sure to get the MEC parts sheet. And download as much info from their site as possible.
