Looking for a new pair of snake boots and really can’t decide on what I want. I do not like rubber boots more along the lace up side. I like the Danner Pronghorn and Vital snake boots the best out of all the ones I have looked at. If any of y’all wear these two boots I would like some feedback or if there is another boot out there that anyone would suggest.

I did a lot of research on this same topic. I just sent in an order for some Russell Harts Turkey Hunters with the zipper on the back.

I have a buddy from Louisiana that swears by the Danners but I don’t know which ones he has.

I've always heard great things about Danner boots so I took the plunge and bought a pair of Danner Pronghorns with 1200 grams of insulation for my Illinois trip. I wore them one time on a bow hunt here and was very disappointed that they are not waterproof as advertised. Just walking through some tall grass in the early morning left my toes soaked. Going to be sending them back.

Back to your question, I've had very good luck with the BPS side zip snake boots.

I love my Irish Setter Vaprtrek's......about as comfortable as a snake boot is going to get - but don't plan on them staying waterproof more than a season or 2 at most.

I know you said you don't like rubber boots, but I've found it hard to beat a pair of Lacrosse Grange paired with TurtleSkin gaiters. I've walked all day in them. Light and waterproof/snakeproof set up. Only downside is once it warms up they can get a little hot in the middle of the day.

Well, they were a gift so to speak...... my wife and kids form of humor for my birthday to “walk into my 40’s.”

Hey, I’ll take it.

I am a forester/timber cruiser by trade and between work and hunting I wear snake boots most of the year. I have been a Danner man for a long time and love them, but the last pair I bought{current pair} didn't last 5 months before the zipper blew out and they leaked at less than a year old. T
hey moved production to China and it shows. I've found if it's not rubber or Gore-Tex it ain't gonna be waterproof.

My favs as well. Try spraying them generously with silicone. About as waterproof as waders for several rough and wet wears after that. I’ll buy them again.

I wonder if you could get a 5 gallon bucket of Thompson's water seal and dip the boots in there?

I spend the warm wather months in tennis shoes and shorts. And I'm in the woods, pasture, peach orchard or field every day.
I ain't wearing no hotass, knee high leather, and I ain’t afraid of snakes.

I have a pair of brand new danner sharptails I got back before spring in a size 10.5. I love the boots, but really need a size 11. I never sent them back, and I assume it’s too late to exchange them now. If anybody wants to buy some in a size 10.5 let me know, I’ll probably list them in the classifieds at some point.

Amen! Wear shoes that are comfortable. Dying from a snake bite is extremely unlikely, but Plantar Fasciitis is a real threat to your health.

Absolutely! And arthritis ain't no joke either.
