Does anybody use this caliber or know anything about it. My son is interested in it but me being an old bow hunter I'm not much help with rifles.

A good friend of mine is using one this season. He bought a Ruger American Ranch with the 16" barrel. he said it shoots good groups with factory ammo,
but has not killed a deer yet.

It is a great gun for 200 yards and less. Recoil isn’t to bad. Great on deer and hogs. Ammo is pretty easily accessible. Past 200 yards it drops pretty hard. About like a 45-70.

Hunting brings out the worst in people.

If you handload you can really make this round shine. Still...it’s a 200 yard gun. My hunting buddy has one and it’s very accurate.

I own a Ruger American in .450 Bushmaster and it’s a tack driver. Got a 16” spread eight pointer in Michigan a week ago with it.

I shot a 190lb buck 2 years ago 115 yards away, , buck dropped in its track. Used Rugar american and Hornady Black 250 grain. I love that round!
