Set up on a river bottom slough this morning in Madison County. River is 100 yards or so to my east, slough is to my north, bean field and creek bottom to my South. The wind is in my face, hopefully they'll be moving this morning ahead of the rain. God bless and be safe today folks.

Sitting in a pine thicket with my flintlock. I keep getting busted by the sinking thermals on the ridge so I broke down and bought some of that nose jammer. Usually get busted atleast once walking in, but didn’t this time. Either it’s working or they all ran like hell the second I sprayed it. I guess time will tell.

Back on public this morning. Watching a thick bottom next to some recently thinned pines.

Good luck gents!

Just had a small spike stroll across the bean field and off onto the river bank. First deer I've seen while on stand this season. Maybe his granddaddy will be along shortly.

Your wind must be all wrong. None of that stuff helps at all if you're not going
to use the wind to your advantage.

Winds out of the south, which is ideal for my spot, I’m just at the top of a ridge by where they are crossing and the thermals are dragging it down below until the sun is high. Stronger south wind would help or sunny sky would help.

And try to come in and set up so the thermals work in your favor or use a strong north wind to help counter the thermals

If you know the thermals are gonna get you busted then why hunt the spot?

This ^^^^^ people ruin so many good spots on light or variable wind days. Main reason I dont like morning hunting. I get busted or bust deer out walking in so much more often than during evening sits.

Didn’t know they were going to bust me when I walked in or I would of went elsewhere. at the top where I parked my truck and had a stiff enough breeze I thought I was going to be good to go. Got to my spot and all wind died. Can only do but so much.

I made a dash for the truck as the rain slowed a little. Gonna go to the camp get something to eat and change locations for the evening hunt.

Decided to stay in this morning and wouldn't you know it? One of my shooters showed up and hung out about 10 minutes. I started not to look when the cell cam went off.

I went to camp dried off , ate and took a shower. Me and my son decided to head back out. My wife and daughter are on the other side of the property. I love hunting in the rain.

I used to not hunt in the rain. Last year i started going in the rain and saw more deer, late in the evening in the rain, than any other time. Ill go sit about an hour or so this evening.

On the good news side Eclipse - it’s good the shooter is out in daylight around your camera - sounds like he may hv a chance to die - especially w this cold from coming in

Hunt the wind - leave it better than you found it - love your neighbor as you love your self

Been in a shooting house with my son since 2. Has not quit raining. Haven’t seen squat. I let him pick the fields we hunt. This one would not have been my first choice. Hopefully he knows something I don’t.

Couldn’t stand it sitting in the house. Got in shooting house and saw group of does running. A minute later a small 6 with dark tarsals came out trailing them. This is in lower Tallapoosa county

How low? I’m by the railroad tracks in Franklin. Just inside Macon County.

My son gets to pick one of the 3 shooting houses we have. He has been stuck on this field since we had some good bucks on cam right at dark for the past few weeks. Today I think he chose this one because it’s raining like hell and it’s the closest to the truck.

How low? I’m by the railroad tracks in Franklin. Just inside Macon County.
5 miles north of you. Near the dump

I used to not hunt in the rain. Last year i started going in the rain and saw more deer, late in the evening in the rain, than any other time. Ill go sit about an hour or so this evening.

I've got my camo frog Toggs out if the boat and I'm going to head to the stand in about 30 minutes

Hope you did better than me. I saw one doe. Would have been pretty upsetting if i were sitting in the rain.

I was sitting in the rain in a climber. 4 pt came through fed a little while, left, came back, left, came back. Repeat, repeat. He kept looking back. Right at dark something died about a few hundred feet from my tree. I don't know what it was or what killed it? But it was a nasty sound. Sounded like a deer balling. All I can figure is bobcat because, the only sound I heard was the blood curdling screams for about a minute, then it faded away. I wasn't going over there in the dark to investigate. We've got totes but I figure they would have been noisy. First I thought spine shot deer with a bow? But it was close enough I feel like I would have heard the shot (thwack)?? Would have been a poacher if it was?
