Just like that, I'm out for a few days! SOG. When I bought the boat the guy told me to make sure I had my hydraulic jack plate up before I trimmed my motor to stow the boat. He said, I learned that the hard way. Well, I did too. Snapped off both hydraulic fittings in the steering cylinder. Gonna have to take an "ease out" to get the broke fittings out of the cylinder, then find the fittings, reinstall and purge the air out of the system.

I told on myself in hopes that someone can tell me how to bleed the air out of the system. I gotta get back going ASAP. Supposed to fish Wednesday and got a business trip tomorrow. I've got Tuesday to get it fixed. Y'all think a boat dealership would keep those parts in stock?

EDIT: I just read the procedure. It's very simple to bleed the air out. Guess I'll have to add fluid. We deal with hydraulics every day at the shop. I can't tell you how bad I'm gonna hate to pay $25 for a quart of fluid. Anyone know if the fluid is really different from standard truck/tractor fluids? We keep multiple types in bulk at the shop. I hope my hydraulic supplier has the fittings. Those fittings are $45 online. If it's something my supplier has I can likely buy and sell them for 1/2 that price.

Sounds alot like something i would do. Ive been on pins and needles using my new tractor. If i drive it home broke, my wife wont ever let me hear the end of it. I have a bad habit of coming home with things broke. They just dont build things right any more

Me and you both. Every time I bale hay, the next day when I get to the shop the first thing my brother asks me is "what did you break this time". LOL

I don't have the fittings, but I do have all the stuff and know how to bleed it. Holler at me when you get the fittings.

Most of our equipment leaks so much, we just pop open a 5 gallon bucket every morning and pour it on the ground. Saves time. 😂

See if you can find some AeroShell 41 fluid locally...maybe from the local airport. It's mil-spec (H-5606-G) matched to Seastar hydraulic steering fluid...which I assume given the price you quoted, is what you need. I got some AeroShell 41 from the Bay Minette airport a few years ago for about $8/qt.

I've got the fluid we need too. It won't take but about half a quart, unless you start turning the steering wheel and run it all out.

The only jack plate I've ever purchased was a manual jack plate. This one came on the boat. I thought about swapping them out before I sell my other boat. LOL
