Do y’all shoot 3 then clean or clean between each shot to zero the rifle. And what do you consider a good group.

Depends on the type of muzzleloader and the load.

I’ll swab every 2 or 3 with a dirty powder. I’ll swab every 10 or so with the cleaner ones.

Some inlines can easily group around 1” with the right load, but I’m around 2” with my accura. As topcat said, I’d also call anything within 3” as acceptable.

I pop two primers to foul the bbl and shoot one time then clean and repeat
Remember one shot is likely all youre going to get so where that first one goes is what counts

I clean after every shot. Here’s my 3 shot group today at 100yds. That low and left was first shot and I think my barrel wasn’t fully clean from last year

Not bad 257

I try to clean after every shot but hav gone 2 Then clean. I usually sight in every year before season but it was dead on after season last year. Dang - I better shoot it on Saturday

Back to the cleaning - Also a bad idea to shoot once or kill a deer then put it up without cleaning

I still swab after every shot just out of habit. but with BH209 its just a dry patch and then just one pass. Patch is noticeably dirty, so there is some residue resident. With 777, it was damp patch then dry patch. Even with just 100 gr of 777, noticeable crud ring but accuracy was good.

I've had good results getting any oil / residue out by running a patch soaked in denatured alcohol before loading.

I would use patches damp in Windex & a dry patch between shots. Most important after setting my scope I would fire a couple down range on a cold/clean barrel. It might take 3 or 4 days before i was satisfied but a rifle needs to be accurate on a cold barrel.

Thanks for the advice. I’m shooting a pretty consistent 1.75-2” at 100.
