For the first time I started some sawtooths and shumard oaks from seed earlier this year. For those of you who that have done this before, should I do anything in particular over the winter as they go dormant or just leave them out on the porch? When should I plant?

Just make sure they dont dry out. If I was you I would plant them when it gets good and cold, late dec/early jan

Plant them before March.

Id have them in the ground when the temps drop and stay in the low 50's or colder for the highs. Ive had my best luck doing that.

I got about 10 Shumards planted, hope they turn that color, they still green right now.

Where have yall gotten yalls oaks from. I looked up the wildlife group but don't see where to order them.

I sprouted my own. I've got 19 chinese chestnuts, 9 shumard oaks, and 31 sawtooth oaks in pots. Got a few dunstan chestnuts and a bunch more chinese chestnuts in frig now for this winter/spring.

I would plant them and put grow tubes on them.

There may be some sawtooth acorns left at the house if you want some Dixieboy.
