Anyone know when a fur is prime here in Alabama? Is there a range? Like they are prime for 2-3 months, or is there a specific time like for 2-3 weeks? Are they different for each furbearer?

Usually land critters like coon, fox, cats prime by early December. Water animals a little later. Coons stay prime til mis February but start rednecking from mating. Otters and beavers get really pretty late February

I been itching to get the FoxPro out after some cats,,,,not sure I can wait much longer.

What does a cat fur bring now? Long time ago it was a lot and coon use to be lot more but last I checked coon were pretty low

Everything is low right now. Apparently the lowest fur has ever been. Coons are just about worthless. Maybe 5 bucks for an extra large prime spouthern fur from what I understand.

I wouldn't let the fur quality keep me from killing cats if I was wanting to hunt them.

I dont sell the fur, but I do like a good pelt when I kill one.
