I just mounted a sightmark wraith on a 7mm-08. It is set up to mount directly to a rail, no scope rings. The nuts felt kindof spongy when they got tight. They never relly bottomed out. I put a good bit of pressure on them. It called for 25lb. Pretty sure I surpassed that. When zeroing it, I shot it several times and when I had it about right, it started getting off bad. I noticed the nuts had loosened and the scope was now off zero. I got it zeroed but the nuts continue to loosen. What can I do about this? I really dont want to put locktight on it.

If I use the locktight, how do I get it off if I decide to take it off this rifle?

Purple lock tight is intended for small diameter screws where there’s a need to remove them. It’s what I use on my scope projects and so far so good. I also use one of those Wheeler scope torque wrenches. I will say the specified amount of torque never “feels” tight enough to me, so I tend to over do it a little. I have not stripped anything in aluminum yet but I sort of worry about that when going over the specified torque. At least the torque wrench gives me information to go by.

Blue isn’t hard to get off, but it’ll keep it from backing out.
I use red for muzzlebrakes. I have to use a heat gun to get them off.

1-NEVER use red loctite on optic screws.

2-Never trust a sightmark optic

Best advice I have is to quit pinching that penny so tight and get a quality scope, quality mounts, and a quality torque driver. Just get the Wheeler mounting kit and learn to do things right. Even from a money only situation it makes no sense to waste $50 in ammo cause yopu cheaped out on the scope and mounts.

Mr Clark the Wraith is a night vision. It had the best reviews of any I could find at a reasonable price. I sent it back and bought a 6x24x50 vortex viper. Guess im giving up on the night vision phase I was in. Maybe the viper will be a good scope. Ive never had one. Probably let my boy hunt with this gun. I dont particularly have a need for it.

Blue loctite and torque to the correct specs.
