Around here, free-range chickens are dead chickens. Our local predators love free-range chickens.
My opinions and comments are my own. They do not reflect the position or political opinions of Aldeer or any of the Aldeer administration.

yes. Like clockwork around dark they will come back home. We let ours out everyday and late every evening they put themselves up. A friend who has had them a while said that if you keep them in a coop for about a week, that it imprints as home to them. So far he has been 100% correct. Somebody told me the same thing about quail. They (the quail) had never heard of such nonsense apparently because I no longer have quail.

Between the owls, bobcats and fox, the quail probably didn't have a say in the matter.

Well Coosa? Did they go to roost in their own pen? Mine do . I'm sure they did,if you left the gate open. Shut it after they go to roost. II forgot to shut the gate a couple weeks ago,and Something went inside the pen that night and caught one.
