Used a piece of chain link fence to cover seed in you plots after discing and spreading seed and fertilizer out? Trying to rig a way to do this so the seeds aren't too deep in the ground. Really dont want to disc them in if I can help it. If yall have done something similar I'm open to here ideas. Do you add a few cinderblocks to it weigh it down some? Any ideas to a bbn voiding discing would be helpful

The chain link works great. Add a spreader board or piece of sturdy angle iron to pull from.
Don't use a disk. It'll bury your seed too deep.

Out back do you just lay the angle iron length ways or right behind the 4 wheeler tiresand attach to the hitch with a chain or something

You can use your disc if you take the angle out where it's just flipping the loose dirt .

Used chain link for years like above. Bought a couple of premades from tractor supply. They were cheap, but have lasted several years and work good. Only reason I like them better than the chain link is they roll up easy.

Never done it any other way. Take the angle out and drop it just enough to scratch the dirt. Has been done that way by many a folk for many a decade.

If you have a 15 ft pine that needs cut, it will work just fine as well. Mesh gate off of an atv trailer works in a pinch as well.

You can put old tires on the fence for weight too.

It be's that way sometimes.

A few years ago I decided to simplify my food plot planting. I had a chain drag 3 point hitch drags disk bushhog and a nice 3 point cultipacker. I sold everything except the disk . Now I spray my plots in August. Late Sept early Oct depends on rain. I put out seed and fertilizer and disk it in. The dry dead vegetation adds thatch to the plots and prevents it from being cut too deep. It works great I have very nice plots and it’s a whole lot less time and trouble.

The best drag I ever made was an old feeder chain off a John Deere combine. I cut it in half and put in on a spreader bar. It made it almost 8’ wide and about 6’ long. Worked great for leveling ground and breaking clods also. Salt water from hurricane Rita got it and now it’s just a big roll of rust.

I have used a piece of heavy duty chain link fence forever. piece of fence 5’-6’ long a 4x4 nailed on the front and back with big fence nails. Screw In two eye bolts on the front and a piece of rope. Simple cheap and effective.

Best drag I've ever had was made out of old tires. 5 put together in pyramid and chained to the atv hitch. Busts clods, levels, covers and packs like a dream. Also won't hang up on anything or get pulled out of shape.

Just buy a 50ft roll of chain link and leave it rolled up. Slide a bar thru the middle and tie a rope to it. No need for tires or blocks. The weight of the fence in small footprint works well. Easy to transport with atv.

I have used a chain link fence and just a hog panel. The key is to keep the front from digging in. We always cut a limb or log to tie into the back 2/3 of the fence or panel to give some bite. Works great behind an ATV. Though recently I have been using the disc method because it is there. Not as fast though.

We have one to pull behind a 4-wheeler and we made a square with the fence posts and tied the chain link to that. What I am saying is that it is rigid all the way around the outside. Works real good and much better than just the chain link flopping. Not sure if that is how any of y'all is built.
