Anyone have a box, or partial box, of Hornady 135gr FTX (.308) bullets they want to sell? I can't seem to find them in stock. Looking to put together some 300 BO hunting loads, but can't find the bullets.

Also be interested in any hearing about anyone's experience with this bullet... accuracy, performance on game, best powders, etc.

Try the Nosler 110 grain Varmageddon. Been shooting a bunch of hogs with them and so far I'm liking the results. Using them with 18.6 grains of H110, haven't chronographed or done much testing-just shooting stuff with them.

I run 125gr sst and 125gr smk. Both will put a hurting on critters. With a 10.5" barrel,125gr sst/18.1gr h110= 2054 avg fps. The smk's are in that ballpark as well

Thanks for the suggestion kbush, those 110gr sure done a number on that hog! Looking for a bit heavier bullet though.

furnfeather, I've shot a lot of Hornady SST's in 7mm, 6.5mm, and 6mm. I've had good results with them. The reason for looking to load up that FTX is I put some Hornady Custom 135gr FTX rounds through my 300BO build (16" bbl). It liked them.

Barnes 130gr TSX over 48 grain of Varget are lights out for my peashooter.

What cartridge ? Don't think a 300 BO can hold nowhere near that much powder.

Put the Varget in a coffee grinder then pour it in the case. You have use a 3' drop tube then pack it in with a steel dowel to get it all in a 300 BO case.

Heck, just use Bullseye and save messing up the grinder.

Oh my, that why I shoot a 308 instead of a 300 BO. Sorry about that!

Nothing wrong with a .308, I have a couple of it's little brother's (7-08). My 300BO fill a special role. One's a 16" barreled bolt gun that's handy in/out of the truck. The other is an AR pistol and they both use the same magazines.

Kinda figured you were thinking 308 Win and not 300 BO. That 48gr would be a "slightly" compressed load. laugh
