....string of hunts in years. Man, I want to hear a bird. I mean I'm hearing nothing. Went to my hot spot today where I usually can hear 4-5 birds on any given morning. Today-with a cool crisp dawn, I heard nada, zilch, nothing. That's the 2nd time this year this has happened.

Started out with a bang the first week and thought it was gonna be a hot year. Not the case. There is still plenty of time left but dang, it has sucked for the past 2 weeks. I never thought I'd say this, but thank God I have a doctors meeting at 7 a.m. in the morning! That should give my mind and body a little time to regroup!

I'm having the about the same luck. Except I heard a bird and my neighbor killed it. Went to both our leases this morning and only heard one bird gobble. I had located two really big birds and thought I would have at least one of them by now, but they obviously had different plans. Three weekends remaining and I have to miss one of those.

Our team needs a few more birds for sure.

I've had one of those years where if it can in some way, shape, or form go wrong, it has. I've had too many of those, "there's no way that just happened" moments. My dad said he noticed some gray hairs showing on my head the other day. I blame every one of them on these turkeys.

Suck it up and stay after them. They will open up or season will close.

Have no fear, my friend. I will be after their butts til season is over. It's like when you're in a hitting slump. All the sudden it starts clicking and then it's game on! God help the next one I get a shot at. I may shoot him twice for the sheer hell of pulling the trigger then kick him all the way back to the truck. laugh

We are hearing plenty, problem is you get 2-3 gobbles on the limb, then 1-2 when he hits the ground! Once on the ground he travels far enough to get frequent flyer miles!

That's good stuff right there. I called up my buddy's first bird ever this year. He's been after them a while so needless to say his frustration level was quite high as well. After he shot him, he Macho Man Randy Savage'd his ass off the top rope in the middle of the pasture. Just another option in case you stump your toe Dr. B.

Its been the worst season in over a decade for me, and I did plenty of poor mouthing before the season started to ward off any jinxes. I just don't understand it; maybe I need to try the power of positive thinking:

I'm gonna hit a streak soon and kill turkeys 3 mornings in a row and then decide to go back to the midwest and will kill at least 5 more there.

Reckon that will work?

wink

The birds up here haven't been gobbling on the roost much. Around 7:30-8:00 they get fired up. They've been gobbling real good, but they're hened up pretty bad right now. I haven't got to pull the trigger yet, but I'm hoping one will make a mistake soon.

I have had a decent season, killed 3 and seen two others die and up until yesterday heard birds gobblin good. Well yesterday my go to hard to kill pasture birds that it is just a gamble if they go to pasture to the south, east, or north for the first time this year didnt say a peep then this mornin I hunted some different pastures and heard nothin on the roost but saw 3 gobblers in a pasture. 2 together and one solo. The two from the time they hit the ground til 645 gobbled at everything but us however at one time they got within about 125yds then eased back the other way. The solo bird never moved more than 100yds from the time I spotted him at 628 til I he was run off by the other two birds around 745. All this bird was do was walkin 20yds or so and squat in the weeds and you wouldnt see him for 10-15min then he'd stand up and walk a little then squat in the weeds again. Hope it turns for the better tomorrow!
