Lew's Holdings bought Strike King a few years ago. Lew's is based in Springfield and Strike King moved from Collierville, Tennessee, to Columbia, South Carolina. They wanted their prostaff anglers to be using Lew's rods and reels. Lew's and SK are owned by some bigger holding company based in Chicago.
Also, Quantum was getting out of the tournament-prostaff biz and focusing on grassroots fishing. Just a business change for them.
So it was a pretty easy move for Kevin to switch over to his home company. I don't believe he was the only one. He switched in September 2019.

I don't know what Lews and Strike King being owned by the same company would have to do with it, Other than he will now get his rods/reels and baits from the same parent company. Per their website, Quantum is a W.C.Bradley/Zebco Holdings brand. If you look up W.C.Bradley and Zebco, neither have anything to do with Strike King or Lews

Lew's officials wanted all of their top pros to use Lew's rods and reels. Kevin previously was with Quantum rods/reels (for almost 30 years) but when his bosses at Lew's - Strike King who sign his sizable checks said "We want you to leave Quantum to fish with Lew's rods and reels," he did. He was fishing with a competing company's tackle and his current sponsors wanted him with their Lew's tackle. That's what it has to do with it.

(See the bold type in the quote above.) My comment was regarding the first two post that made it sound like Lews/Strike King owned or bought Quantum. See the big words below... Why did he switch to lews? I’m assuming money.. been out of the loop awhile.. did they buy quantum out? Yes. I believe Strike King and Lew's are owned by the same Company.

Quantum fishing was acquired by W.C.Bradley in 2001. Peak Rock Capital, a leading middle market private equity firm, owns Strike king/ Lews. To e honest, I'm surprised Kevin wasn't madeto use the Johnny Morris reels sold by Bass pro due ton his connection with Nitro.
