I posted recently in the classifieds and just now realized this subgroup was on here.
I’m looking for a semi auto duck gun, and have looked recently at the Stoeger M3500 or similar, or even the 3000. I’m interested in a semi with a duck barrel in that budget range.
I’d like to find a 3.5” gun but a 3” would work for a good enough bargain.
I’m sure someone’s got one they’ve upgraded from, and if so hoping I can work out a buy or trade. LMK what you have!

3.5”? Don’t do it. Ducks are meant to be hunted with a 12 ga and 3” shell. Used to be just 2 3/4 when we could shoot lead.

Get you a franchi affinity. Very close to a Benelli. If I was going to buy another semi auto that would be the one. The only stoeger I ever shouldered was in the store and the front sight lined up to the back sight more crooked than. $40 BB gun

I’ve said it before so I’ll say it again, an 870 and the BPS have killed more ducks than cancer, are budget conscience, never jam or hang up, and will make you choose your shots better. The older I get, the more I love my BPS in the duck woods

I got a 3.5 BPS when 3.5 inch shells first came out. You don't need 3.5's BTW.

I still have it. The BPS has killed thousands of ducks. It will get it done. If you get into a day where you shoot 50+ birds it will beat you up.... but most hunters don't see consecutive days like that. I still take it with me for a backup gun when I go on trips. And I carried it to the blind for years to give to clients if their gun malfunctioned.

You would see similar results from an 870 I just like the BPS because it throws the empty down at your feet and doesn't leave empty hulls all over the top of the blind.

No government employees were harmed in the making of this mess.

Thanks for the input fellas!
Here’s to clarify** I currently have a mossberg 835 Ducks unlimited, and love it, also have an 870 turkey gun..
With that said, the desire to go semi is obvious, and as far as 3.5”=better to have and not need than need and not have, bc it will be used for geese as well. May as well be able to if I want to.

Thanks for the advertisement. grin

I have a SX2 with 26" that has decided to quit ejecting 2 3/4" shells but seems to shoot the 3" and 3.5" shells just fine. I've quit duck hunting and use a 20ga for TSS. Let me know if you're interested and I'll shoot you some pictures.

My SX3 does the same thing. I dropped my gas block in some stuff I found online. It was pretty much like ether and carb cleaner. It got it shiny again. I also found out about a tiny gas port near on the inside of the ring on the barrel when you remove it. Mine was completely clogged and I poked around in there with a metal pick and cleaned it out too. To be honest, after all that, the gun still can’t shoot a box of cheap target loads without hanging up. I have to shoot high brass dove loads or 3” duck loads to get it to eject. I can’t even practice with the gun like I want to.

I figure I could get it working if I really needed it to work. but I have my primary SX2 and a "pretty" Browning gold that I use now when wing shooting.
