Can deer hear or sense cell phone signals? I have heard that sending and receiving texts while in the stand is a sure way of not seeing deer. What yall think?

RF (radio frequency) is out there all the time. Can you pick up a radio station where you hunt? If so then RF is out there. Cell phone freq. is alot higher probably between 800-1000 MHZ, where as a radio station is like 90-120 MHZ. But the deer don't know the difference. If you can't sence it they can't either. If animals could detect RF my dog would freak out all the time. twocents

SouthernLinc and Nextel operates between 800-900 MHZ. That's the IDEN platform. I don't know much about CDMA's platform but I'm willing to bet it's somewhere around 1000 MHZ. I could be wrong, I have been before. Please inform me.

Deer could care less. I text with them in bow range, sometimes right before the shot.

Since when are cell phones "city stuff"? What about game cameras, is that "city stuff"? I bought my bow and gun in the city. I guess I had better leave them at home; I wouldn't want to bring that "city stuff" in the woods.

I was talking to my dad while watching two yearlings from about 15 yards Saturday morning.

In the US all cell phone companies currently operate in the 800-900mhz and 1900-1950mhz overseas they use 900-1000mhz and 1800-1899mhz that is why most phones are quad band phones

I've heard that if you wear camo spandex and a thong the deer can't jam your cell signal. But if your sitting over a clorox stump it doesn't matter cus they'll be so locked onto the stump and wont care about the traveling wavelegnths. Drinking a lot of coffee and peeing off your stand to make a mock scrape will keep them coming regardless of cell phone use too. eek

I know you were joking, but that one actually works.
There's even been a few comparisons done, by wildlife researchers, where human urine lured more deer to a mock scrape than any of the commercial doe pee.

I carry my cell but keep turned down on vibrate & tucked away in a pocket that I can reach if I'm stuck hanging from my tree. I do the same with a sharp knife.
