Since you are not using nitrogen I don’t see what it would hurt. If you are worried just do it when rain chances are high for a couple days.
Maybe 257 or one of the other farmers will chime in too

You’re not really “fertilizing the clover”…….you’re replenishing the nutrients reserves in the soil…..It would be more accurate to say that you’re “fertilizing the soil” really. I’m guessing since its clover that you’re likely gonna use something like a 0-20-20…….Both of those nutrients take awhile to become available for plant use so I’d say go ahead and apply them. They should kick in about the time clover jumps out of dormancy.

Just pretend I commented in june. Still the same advise agreed. That's what I thought then and now. The hot spell we've had since then would have stressed it out. Think I'll wait until late September.

If he’s trying to improve his clover stand then he is fertilizing clover. Same as if I fertilize my corn, lawn, brassicas, trees, etc.

The only thing of concern of burn IMO would be during high temps using muriate of potash (0-0-60) exceeding 40lbs /a. This is the threshold on turf. Never tried more than that on clover or turf. I have used more per acre on turf with sulfate of potash (0-0-50) but it’s about 2-2.5x as expensive but u have the added addition of the sulfur which is usually needed in a low organic matter situation.
Give me bout 15 more minutes, I was dreamin about beavers..........
