How would i go about seeing if our lab is registered? We found our female’s papers, but cannot find the male’s? Not positive he is, but everyone looking at our pups are asking. Even though i aint sure that piece of would make Cash a better dog grin

The harder I practice, the luckier I get.

With every puppy I have sold the litter registration papers were sent with the puppy. It is up to the new owner to send in the registration papers to the registry. I know most owners want to name their own dogs and this practice allows them to do that.

If you never sent paperwork to the AKC, UKC or other registry then your dog isn't registered. Doesn't detract from your dogs abilities in the least and he can certainly pass those traits on to his offspring. Papers don't fetch ducks, dogs do that!

That’s true Mark but papers fetch more dollars when selling pups.

And that's the only reason why i'm trying to find out if we registered him. Addison got him to hunt and wasn't worried about breeding him, but the dog is good and has made a name for himself. And just like with these pups, if i could find his papers, I might could ask more (even though i'm not). But for future possible breeding...

Papers are given to you by the breeder with the litter registration info.its up to the buyer to send in the paperwork and pay the akc registration.im sure he would be on file and still be able to register I would think anyways but you'd need to know the parents akc names atleast to get started trying

Also if he was chipped as a puppy you may be able to trace something there.but I'm not sure if you've had the dog since a pup or whatever

What we are saying is if you didn't personally fill out the paperwork and send it in to the AKC, UKC or CKC and also send them a check then receive the papers back, the dog isn't registered. The owner registers the dog. The breeder only provides the paperwork.

Yessir, i understand that. I did register the dam, but i cannot remember if i sent off/paid for the registering of the male? He is not chipped. Addison found his screenshot of the the info where he found the puppies for sale, but it doesn't have any names or anything. Vet advised me to call akc, but said "good luck" talking with someone.

The AKC always answered any questions I had and were very helpful.

You were correct. Just called and got an answer in just a few minutes. We didn't send registration papers for Cash. I'm wondering now if we got the packet from the guy we bought him from.
