Been using a tc impact and while I don’t get to use it much I’m wanting something different. It was my first ml to get myself into the game and now that I have a better understanding I’m wanting to move up into a better rifle. Any recommendations on new one? Not looking for the latest and greatest just something a bit newer and possibly stainless. And I’m a sucker for wood stocks but I don’t see many options there

I agree with Top Cat. CVA is very good for the investment.

Maybe its just me, but IMO the gun you have IS a good middle of the road ML... I've not been as active in the muzzleloading world in the last 10 years or so, but TC was always considered the high end of mass produced muzzleloaders and the other brands like CVA, Traditions, etc were generally considered to be of lower quality, with all other things being equal. I know CVA has come a long way and is making some great high end guns now, and on the flip side TC is making some VERY inexpensive entry level guns, but I've always preferred a Thompson Center

I have a TC Omega and it is a heck of a gun and I also have a TC Encore Prohunter that is also a great shooter. I even have an MK 85 (Knight) and they all shoot lights out at 100 yards. I have alot of money tied up in these rigs since the scopes have been added and thumbhole laminate stocks were added! I killed the biggest deer I will ever kill with the MK 85 about 20 years ago in TN. The reason I got into MZ hunting so much was becasue the bucks ran wild on my property in TN the first MZ hunting week and I wanted to have the best opportunity to kill a giant that I could. I never cared for a Traditions or a CVA because they were cheap made when I was buying years ago-I cant tell you anything about their quality or price as of today though.

Any of these guns can be purchased at a reasonable cost and then upgrades made. These guns of mine all shoot Blackhorn powder and nothing else comes close. Buy one of these guns and customize it to your liking. They are hard to beat and remember that the most important part of killing a deer is the man pulling the trigger! Muzzle loader hunting is my favorite way to enjoy the outdoors.

I can't stand a thief.

Thanks guys. I’ll try to get to Cabelas or bass pro one day soon if the world doesn’t end and get my hands on a few. I never see any at the range near me and no one else I know really uses one besides dad and I don’t like his traditions. And it may be the scope I don’t like but it doesn’t shoulder very well on me.

Ii have a Knight ultralight. I use to have the TC Omega but it was a little heavy. The Knight is 6lbs without scope and it will touch holes at 150.
