Interesting story about the tiger. One of my old Marine buddies back in the early 1980's when I was assigned to an artillery unit, told us the story one day how one of their guys was attacked, drug off from his foxhole and killed in the middle of the night by a tiger. He said he can still hear the guy screaming. Bad enough those guys had to worry about the NVA and the Viet Cong, but tigers too... Damn. They never recovered the guys body.

Read his book if you get the chance its called "A Tiger Among Us". It's a fitting title. I knew this man and he was a true warrior. RIP

When I was at Fort Benning GA for Infantry Officer Basic in 1970, another 2LT in my class was awarded the Medal of Honor. He was a junior NCO in Viet Nam and his unit was completely overrun. All of the officers were dead as well as all of the senior NCO’s. Being an E-5, he was the senior guy still alive, and assumed command of an Infantry company. He was badly wounded but survived and was given a direct commission to 2LT. After he healed from his many wounds, they sent him back to Benning for IOBC. He was an unassuming baby faced guy who just wanted to be another 2LT like I was. I wish I could remember his name.
