There is construction around Brompton and paving around Anniston.

For some unknown reason the speed limit is 55 from Anniston all the way to the state line, even though no construction is taking place in this area.

The speed limit between Chula Vista area to the Pell City exit is 45. Road is lined with barracades. People still drive fast through there though. Its not too bad but it isn't complete by any means.

Get off at exit #179 Coldwater/Munrord and turn left. Go to Hwy 78 and turn right. Go all the way through Oxford on 78 until you get to hwy 431 South. Turn right and that will put you back on I-20 and you will miss the construction.

I don't know about 20, but if 65 was shut down for as long as they said...don't know if it'll catch back up. Fed marshalls used "deadly force" to aprehend a suspect is what they are reporting. Down near calera?

I go that way about once a week. The construction zones are not bad. It's when the wrecks happen that everything gets fouled up. I can't remember the last time I stuck heading to Atlanta though. For reason it's the return that seems worse. Almost every jam I get stuck in is on the westbound side.

As for the speed limit being 55 from Anniston to the state line, it has something to do with a piece of the road that came loose and flew up when a truck ran over it. The flying piece hit the car behind and killed the driver. I think it's supposed to stay at 55 until they repave it. I'm sure somebody knows more than I do but that is what I remember. It's been a few years.
