I'm a nub to shotshell loading . I've found tons of info on 12 ga loads but very little for 20 ga buckshot. If anyone has a link or a good recipe they would share id appreciate it. I have a couple pounds of lil gun and Longshot, federal and cheddite hulls, various wads , lead 00 and nickel plated #1 buck.

This is a good website that will allow you to put in type of hull, powder, etc.... Then it will give you recommended data.

Thanks. I've been there a couple times. I was hoping for a little more specific load data . Is doesn't have info on 3" cheddite hulls, nothing about crimp or kind of shot. Another thing is I've read and heard that lil gun is a great powder for 20 ga but the only info I've found was for 20 ga tss loads, 28 ga and 410 loads.

I have the ballistic products buckshot manual, but it's at work. I'll take a pic of the 20 gauge pages on Monday if I can remember. All their loads are listed by weight, not by a specific size pellet or count. The buckshot loads in other manuals are anemic.

Ive found several good buckshot loads for 12 and 16 gauge. The best patterning loads I have found for both stacked by 2s in a wad. I use Longshot in my 12 gauge loads and Blue dot in my 16 load.

I roll crimp all mine, it will give you extra room in the hull. Just make sure the slightly longer shell will cycle in your gun.

I would bet money you could find a 12 pellet #1 load that will do good. A typical #1 pellet weighs 40gr x 12 is 480 grains. 480 ÷ 437 = 1.09 oz. That would be safe to use in a 1 1/8 oz load

I sure would appreciate it. I'll pm you my phone number. I'll be rolling crimping as well. Crimping birdshot loads had gone fairly well but the buckshot (no buffer) hasn't done so good. Thinking about just using a power piston or nitro card rather than a cup wad. I have waa20 7/8 oz and sp20 1 oz wads but they don't seem to work well with large shot. I ordered some tps wads I'm hoping will work better.
