I bought my nephew a Ruger American 308 for his birthday tomorrow. Was curious who else has one and what ammo you shoot? Thought I’d try here before I start this rat race of ammo chase.
Thanks.

I’d start with whatever you can get cheap.

I owned one. I shot Fusion 180s through it. Accurate and packed a wallop.

For the budget category
Federal Fusion 150gr for the budget bullet.

For the Premium category.
Hornady Precision Hunter
Barnes TSX or TTSX

That's where I would be looking.

165gr-168gr from any of the major ammo manufacturers will probably shoot the best. I had one I kick myself for selling that would put 3 in the same hole

my go to first choices to try are either federal fusions, or Barnes vort tx. Those 2 have shot well in everything ive tried them in. I like the barnes 130gr in 308

I’ve got a Ruger American .243 now. It just would not group Core Lokts. But shoots Fusions lights out.

Thank you all for the input! I greatly appreciate it, too much info on here not to ask. Think I am going to try some 130 grain Barnes TTSX. I shoot them in my 300 win (150 gr) and they are a deadly bullet. I will post results hopefully in the next few days. Hopefully, I can help someone else out as you all have myself.
Thanks again.
