Would anyone around here be in the know about some land for sale on which to build a small hunting camp? I am not in the market for anything extravagant, I just need approximately 1/2 acre of unrestricted land to put a small cabin and pole barn on. I do most of my hunting by boat on Corps of engineer land on the Tombigbee but also hunt the Demopolis WMA a lot. I'd like the little lot to be in close proximity to a boat launch somewhere along the Tenn Tom water system in Hale or Green County anywhere along the river from Gainesville, Demopolis, Or Greensboro. Probably important to make the distinction that it does not need to be waterfront, just reasonable driving distance to any boat launch in the aforementioned water system.

Good luck. That’s a tall task. Be aware you need to find a lot where the neighbors are willing to look after your cabin while you’re gone.

Yeah I realize places like that are pretty hard to come by.

I found a dang near perfect place in a little river camp at lock 5, there was even a little 600 sq ft house already on the lot with a bedroom and bathroom in it that would have been perfect, but we just couldn't agree on price.


Location is pretty important. Anything longer than a 10 min drive to a boat launch kind of negates the purpose for a little camp.

That's some good advice about the neighbors. It would be pretty beneficial to have someone there on lookout all the time.
