Planted a couple plants in large pots back on 3/29. I had peppers in the pots last year that did fine, and mixed in some new soil before adding these tomatoes.

About week after planting, I noticed some of the older leaves turning brown. The plant seems to be doing fine (growing taller, good looking new growth, etc), but the older leaves still look bad.

Any idea what could cause this? Too early for fungus? Watering has been fine. Bad soil? I added some Vigoro food, and like I said, the plants seem to be doing fine so I’m not too worried about it, I just can’t figure why some of the leaves look the way they do.

Humm... both in the nightshade family. Those really should be rotated every year....could be in the soil.

Be kind to one another and tell the ones you love that you love them often. We never know what tomorrow will bring.

The lower laterals on tomato plants usually end up looking pretty sorry. They're real close to the ground, are exposed to the soil, and turn yellow really quick.

Not saying that you don't have a problem, but I just cut off the lower branches as fruit forms. Helps to redirect nutrients from the plant to the tomatoes.
