His story is unbelievable. A field goal kicker with half a foot who set the NFL record for the longest field goal. A 63 yarder that stood from 1969 till 2013. RIP sir.

I remember watching film of him kick that field goal. I think I actually watched the game, it was so long ago, I can't remember games vs. NFL films. I do remember him when he was kicking for the Saints, it is hard to remember one game.

The half a foot wasn’t a disadvantage as much as an advantage, if I remember correctly there was lots of controversy about his custom shoe and surface area Edit: for kicking, obviously a disadvantage in life in general

If you read his story he also played about every position on the field when called to do so. That was the late 60's and early 70's. Even the kickers played the tough hitting positions from time to time.
