From this??

There will be 100,000 deaths from the virus. It won’t be close. Y’all ar

I don't believe much of the country thinks about how our whole way of life is on the line, at the moment. I'm not talking about the virus either. Most people are only paying attention to the medical experts but care nothing to hear from the economic experts. I don't know what economic depression looks like but I've read enough about it that it seems unfathomable. It would be a personal tragedy for any of us to lose someone to the virus but it would be a greater tragedy to lose the country. I don't know where the 200k figure that Dr. Fauci gave today came from but even if he's right that isn't with worth sacrificing the nation and our sovereignty.

For sure it should.

Some statistics from the Great Depression. Suicide rates jumped from 12.1 (1290 -1928) to 18.1 in 1929 and stayed high through the 1930's. This was per 100,000 population.
I'd say its a safe bet this was tied to the economy.

Yep, sorry to those affected, but we are at a crossroads. Here is what we know. A prolonged shut down of our economy will devastate our futures. It will be somewhere between Great Recession and complete collapse of our federal government. That’s what we know. Apparently, the general population is willing to live with that, to slow down a virus that will kill a very small percentage of Americans. That’s completely asinine.

When your kids are starving, you are fighting homelessness and have totally lost your whole way of life, I imagine it takes its toll on the mental health of all but the ultra wealthy. Every day that passes with the economy on life support makes it more likely we will see that play out, once again.

He didnt back off his numbers. The 2.2mil was for no response to the virus and continuing on as normal.

Mental health should be taken seriously. For all the bad news we hear am I wrong to think our society will rebound from this? I see gun&ammo price increasing. We're Americans we went to the moon we invented cheeseburgers and atomic energy we invented the .30/06 no China virus will stamp out the fact that we invented cast iron skillets and bacon. Is my personal situation amazing? I could be better off but I have my health and soon as quarantined lifted a job. I'd say the coronavirus is in trouble. We will rise up.'Murica!

I like how they throw these numbers out there and give no detail as to how they came up with them. That goes for Dr’s and people on here. Just pull them out of thin air and toss them on a board. Nobody knows how many will die from this. I do agree that this will push some over the edge unfortunately and I can see how. The thought of me not being able to provide for my kids absolutely terrifies me.

Lets be real here. I dont know much but as far as i know there is NO cure for the flu, aids, hepatitis whatever, mono, chicken pox etc..there is no cure! If they havent found a cure for the stuff i listed, who says they can cure this covid 19? They cant even cure the common cold and its 2020!!! Its time to be real. This might be what gets us yall.

I have been rained out since Thanksgiving basically. With a morgage and 2 dependents, my savings is pitiful. Im starting to hide cash at home. Remember when the tornadoes hit and the atm was down for days? Gas was like Gold. You starved if you didnt have food at home prior to the power outage. This aint looking good. Im gonna start my garden early and plant everywhere i can. There is no meat in the grocery stores basically. I havent checked in a few days though. I cant depend on the government to baby sit me when they cant even cure the common cold. If we get out of this, im changing the way i live. I can survive for 2 months on my rations then im desperate. This can keep going south, then what do we do? We were absolutely on our own in those 2011 tornadoes. Government didnt offer food. We were on our own for 2wks i think before we got power back. That should have been my wake up call. I need a storm shelter in my yard stocked with food and water for 1yr atleast. This is like a bad dream. It doesnt make sense. I think China is trying to slap us frankly. We been pushing them around for months now this? I think they made this crap.

There is effective treatments for pretty much everything you listed. Some types of Hepatitis is even treatable in many cases, if the person didn’t wait too long for treatment AND they stopped the behaviors that created it to start with. I believe China does have some major explaining to do. I hope we are capable of limiting our dependence on them.

If the restrictions are lifted at the end of April and pretty much back to normal of far as people going back to work by first of June. I think the economy can recover pretty quickly. However I do not believe the restrictions should be extended past the end of April unless something drastic happens with the numbers.

With half the country being employed by small businesses, how many do you think might not have a job to go back to, because the business had to close? I personally know of 4 , here locally, that won't be opening back up, already. We are only 2 weeks in and some are already closing. It's not good business practice but many people would be shocked at the number of small businesses that operate all week just to make payroll and don't have enough money put back to withstand zero revenue for more than a week or two. Economists were predicting unemployment numbers in the 10% plus range before this announcement to keep it shut down till May 1. If we get into 20% territory everyone can get ready for things they've never thought possible in their lifetime.

I hate we’re in this situation (don’t get me wrong), but around my house we’re doing fine. Getting work done, and teaching the kids all the things I been putting off. Working outside every day almost feels like the old days. We’ve cut firewood, painted, pressure washed, fixed things and built stuff. I can deal with another 3 weeks of this mentally, physically and financially, but I’m sure I’m in the minority. Contemplating painting my whole house inside and out......

We only had 88 suicides in all of last year. We had 8 in one night this week. What the heck else would drive the numbers up that high that fast? Maybe an economic down turn, unemployment, and being terrified about the future?

Your county provides daily suicide status updates?
