Anybody have a newer 2019-2020 ford f150? Im looking for pros and cons, any know issues? Ive got a 2017 Silverado 1500 (THAT IS A PIECE OF JUNK) and was contemplating a diesel, but got in a f150 this weekend and it peaked my interest.

I had a 2018 F150 FX4 V8. Great looking truck and got excellent gas mileage, but it was a POS and Ford couldn't fix it. A lot of it had to do with the 10 speed trans and really hard shifts anywhere between 1-6. I think that issue was resolved prior to Ford rolling out the 2019 and 2020 models. Had other issues with the things like seat resetting randomly, stereo not responding. Things like that would happen and then it would return to normal. I think that happens in most newer cars.

After purchasing my first diesel, and I use it for hauling a lot now. I will never go back to a gas burner. If you go gas, get the V8. Before I sold my ecoboost I loved it but at the time didn’t realize how much $ I spent repairing all the little things that would break or malfunction.

That's what im wondering if the HD trucks are that much better. I haul a boat and a 4 wheeler a decent amount, and use a truck like it should be used. My 1500 has just under 50k and the transmission has had issues for the last 15k miles. front end pops, rides like shucks. Yes I have a leveling kit and bigger tires, but I never had these issues in my 2 previous trucks that had the same leveling kit and tires.

My company truck is a 2020 F-150 Lariat 4x4 with the Ecoboost. I love it. It doesn’t have that nice V-8 rumble but other than that I’d buy one if I was in the market.

I’ve had a 2016 Supercrew 4x4 and now own a 2019, both with the coyote v8 engine. The ‘19 has the 10 speed tranny which took some getting used too, but zero problems with either of them. Not a fan of twin turbo eco boost and neither are 9/10 Ford mechanics when asked which engine they would buy.

Have a 2019 F-150 with the 8 cylinder motor, burns a quart of oil every 3000 miles, came that way off the lot. The engine rattles like a 4 cylinder diesel. The 10 speed transmission is annoying as is the automatic shut off switch every time you come to a stop. Other then that it rides good, missing my 2016 F-150

I am in the market too and have driven the silverados and F150's and the F150's seemed a lot smoother and more solid. The seats were more comfortable too. Didn't like the chevy transmission and throttle was very touchy. Was very impressed with the 2.7 ecoboost man it feels like a v8. Drove the chevy 4 cylinder just for kicks and they have gotta be kidding!

Ive always been a chevy guy, and never had any problems until this one really. Im thinking diesel may be the way to go.

do you need a diesel? (tow moderate/heavy loads on a regular basis)............they seem to be a lot more trouble/expense than they're worth unless you actually need the towing capacity.

The Company truck is a Lariat, well hot damn.

The new Ford 7.3L gas motor if it's as good as it looks on paper and in theory should be a great motor. Though it's not offered in the F150s.

Do I need one? No. Mostly towing a boat and 4 wheeler. I just feel like the 1500 trucks they make are grocery getters these days. As said this is my third Silverado 1500, and its by far the worst ive owned yet. I guess it's mainly hit or miss with all trucks these days.

The cost really washes out.

Yes I pay $120 for an oil change, but I do it every 10,000 miles

Wear tires out quicker

I went to the dealerships last week specifically looking to buy a slightly used F150 with the 3.5 ecoboost. While I was there they took in a 2014 model with the 5.0 V8. I drove it since I was already there and was very impressed with it. The guy that owned it bought it new and was a Toyota mechanic, he traded it in for a new one that morning and it only had 58k miles. Went to several other dealerships to drive slightly used F150's and none of them seemed to compare to the 2014.

Maybe I'm just old school but the 2014 model with the 5.0 V8 and the 6 speed transmission just seemed more solid so I went with it. Ended up spending about $10k less than I had planned as well. I loved my 2019 Tacoma but it was just too dang small
